Reverse Cycle Ducted Air Conditioning Systems

Ducted reverse cycle air conditioning is the perfect solution to heat and cool your home. We design a system that will work perfectly for your home and the climate. Chris has been working in the Southern Highlands for 20 years and knows exactly what is needed to heat or cool your home in the local climate. Our ducting designs are tailored to suit to how you use the home and what will best suit you. We go over grille options and locations as well as locations of the unit so you best understand what is happening with your system and throughout the installation process. The ducted systems can be installed for single rooms up to large homes as well as offices. These systems have supply air grilles through out the home as well as return air grilles. They come in many different zoning options which means more flexibility in how we set up your system so it can be tailored to you and how you use your home. Two of the options are as follows:

Standard zoning:

This is where the ducted system has a common zone, usually the main Living room zone. We will normally install the wall controller in this zone and set the controller to sense from this location. This is what will determine the temperature for the whole home. We then install zone motors for the other rooms. These are a simple on or off zone. These zones will normally turn off unused bedrooms or Living areas of the home so that you are not spending money heating or cooling rooms when they are not in use saving you money on your electricity bill.

Advanced zoning:

With the advanced zoning we zone off all areas of the home. For each of the areas of the home we install a temperature sensor. Depending on the system and configuration you will be able to set different set points for each of the rooms. Having this set up make the system extremely energy efficient as you are only heating or cooling the areas that are needed. It also offers a near perfect temperature throughout the home. These systems are extremely useful if you have a fire place in the main Living room as it will only heat the other rooms that are needed without over heating the Living room zone. We achieve this with either using Actron Advance zoning systems or we can adapt a 3rd party hardware to your existing system. Please note that ductwork has to be designed with this in mind and if you are zoning off the home you many need to have anywhere from 1 to 4 vents open for the system to operate correctly.

Reverse cycle ducted systems are quickly becoming the go to system for the Southern Highlands. This is due to the current running cost of reverse cycle electric systems compared to gas central heating systems (As at Dec 2022). In recent years manufacturers have greatly improved the defrost modes in the reverse cycle air conditioning systems, meaning that on those cold mornings the systems will still be able to provide efficient heating. The modern reverse cycle air conditioning systems do still need to defrost when running in heating mode, but they handle this much better than they have in the past. As the cost of running of the reverse cycle air conditioning systems is much lower than any other form of heating you can leave the system on over night to best combat this. The reverse cycle air conditioning systems become even cheaper when paired with a solar system.
